Snapping Turtle Digging a Nest: This is a videotape of a female snapping turtle digging a nest hole on June 5th. A tornado warning was in effect, so I was not able to photograph her laying the eggs as I had to take cover. Luckily, the tornado did not hit our area, and I was able to put a protective barrier around the nest. The hatchlings should emerge sometime between mid-September and mid-October.
