Osprey Nest Visit #3: We visited the osprey nest again yesterday. It was drizzling when we started the hike, yet was just a mist upon reaching the summit. We got 10 minutes of photography in before it began to rain in earnest causing us to have to pack up and head down to the car. Drew’s pack weighed 27 pounds (all camera equipment and tripods), and mine weighed 15 pounds (water, video camera, spotting scope, and binoculars). Out of all that equipment, only the digital camera was used. Ugh…oomph…

The adult osprey was eating a fish when we arrived and was feeding pieces of it to one of the chicks who was out of sight on her left side. No good shots of that. The chicks seemed a bit bigger than 5 days ago, and their feathers seem darker and fuller. We plan on going back next Monday and Tuesday.
