New Favorite Book: (This entry is dedicated to Maine Nature Diary’s newest fan, Nancy…good luck finding a forestry related job in whatever state you hail from).  I know, I know…I keep coming up with new favorite books. This one is my favorite forest book. The Maine Forest Service has issued a Centennial edition of its old standby: Forest Trees of Maine. The minute I laid eyes on this book I became so excited. It is an awesome revision with new color photos, old-timer photos, and glossy paper (that may hold up when outdoors on a misty day, although I haven’t tried that yet).
