This male hummingbird is somewhat possessive of his feeder and spends hours guarding it from others.

Hummingbirds: We have really been enjoying our ruby throated hummingbirds (as always). The feeder at the front of the house is being jealously guarded by a male hummingbird who sits on the top of the crook of the staff for long periods of time in the early morning and late afternoon hours. He is constantly on the lookout for intruders who try to sneak in for a sip of nectar. When this occurs, a high speed chase is on with much swooping, twisting and turning until the intruder decides that the other feeder is more desirable. The victor ultimately returns to his perch where he intersperses his long vigils with periodic sips from the feeder.
