Walk on the pond: I walked the perimeter of the pond from 4:15 - 5:30 pm. On the south end I saw some fisher tracks (I think), some tracks with long sinuous, swishy tail markings, and possibly mink tracks. There are lots of tracks on the south west side of the pond, and continuing along the west side heading north. The wind was from the north, and was gusting at about 20mph, bringing the wind chill down to about 11F.

I was quite cold over the duration of the walk, but it was worthwhile because I got to see some spectacular colors as the sun set. The sky was mostly cloudy and dark gray, with small swishes of powder blue. Some stratus clouds were lit up to a brilliant pink / pinkish orange color as the last of the sun’s light shot upward. The scene was amazing. I had wished that I’d brought my camera, but I had wanted to be unencumbered on this walk with it being so cold. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the clouds until all went dusky dark about 5 minutes later, and I trudged the rest of the way home with the wind at my back.
