VIDEO - Caesar Pond’s Northern Edge: It is a snowy December 31st and the northern edge of Caesar Pond is still open in spots. We walked along the ice to the back boggy portion of a cove, which is separated from the main section of Caesar Pond by a bunch of small grassy islands and a line of sickly looking Larch trees. The ice got progressively thinner as I reached the area where water was flowing over the lip. This is the only moving water in the pond, and there are a few springs here as well. By the end of January, we will be able to walk up to, and over, the lip of the pond into the marshy area beyond as all will be frozen. You can hear the sound of flowing water and Zoe giving a big shake as she came up to me at the end of the video. You may also hear a ratcheting sound which was made by the camera (some kind of weird anomaly, maybe due to the cold and damp.) Note: After starting the video, move your cursor off the picture and the controls will disappear.
