Smooth Ice on Caesar Pond: Rain followed by uber cold temps. yielded super smooth ice for skating. I went out to check the ice surface for bubbles and fractures, and found a few skaters enjoying the ice as I padded along on my Yak Trax (I am way too uncoordinated to skate.) The outdoor temp. was 26F with a light snow falling. The ice thickness measured 5.5” near shore and 4” farther out. (Click on any photo to enter the slide show to view larger photos.)
