Short snowshoe in the forest: I was wicked tired today, and had to drag myself outdoors to get some exercise. I only snowshoed up to the T crossroads in the woods and felt like laying down for a nap on the trail…But, I decided it would be wiser to turn around and head for home before it got dark. I ended up taking a nap after all was said and done. Snooze….
Not much going on: We are having some remodeling done and I’ve been getting home near sunset, so I haven’t gotten out to play at all except for Friday afternoon. I am going to try to get out snowshoeing tomorrow.

Cold weather is on the way: Yozwer! We are heading into a cold snap. I just looked at Weather.com and saw that our actual Monday morning temp. will reach -15F with a wind chill “feel-like” temp. of -32F. Bundle up…
Airing out the house: We have a gorgeous sunshiny day and I decided to air out the house. The current temp. is 15.3F and I have all the windows open. We try to air it...
Snow Total Thus Far This Winter: 50.25” of snow since the first snowfall on Dec. 6, 2010. We had a late start, but are making up for lost time with lots of little snow storms during this El Nina year. Meteorologists have had a difficult time predicting the kind of winter we will have in the Northeast due to the fact that we get weather systems that converge from the north, the west, and the...
SNOW DAY # 2 - Winter Storm Warning: We are in range to get upwards of 9” of snow out of this storm which will move through at a fast clip and will be replaced by frigid arctic air. We’ll be in the negative numbers by Sunday morning, with temps as low as -15F by Monday am.
More Snow Flurries: We got 1.75” of fluffy snow overnight. Under that snow is a hard crust from the rain we had. But, we are due for 2”- 4” more snow tonight through tomorrow.
Weather Update: Slushy day today…Ugh…The snow is wet from all the drizzle along with the periodic snow showers. The temp. got up to around 36F today. Double Ugh…But, we are supposed to get much colder temps. and will have more plowable snow on Friday! Yeah…Maybe that will yield more snowshoeing this weekend.
Snow: We just received 6” of snow over the day’s time. Next, comes sleet and freezing rain. Ugh…Messy weather ahead tonight.
Carla breaking trail on Caesar Pond: Here is the pond in all its glory. I like snowshoeing on it after a storm because it is nice and flat, which is what I need to help me get in shape without causing heart failure in the beginning of winter. Carla and I took turns being in the lead as we got quite tired due to not being used to working our legs on the skis and snowshoes (very different...
Weather: We are finally settling into winter. How do we know? Well…the low temperature, at 5:30 am, was -3.8F. Get your bubble wands and a fresh bottle of soap bubble liquid to the ready! As soon as the outdoor temp. drops to -11F you can blow frozen bubbles! That’s one of the ways we northerners have fun in the winter ;-0
Snow Accumulation: At 4:45 pm, we have 16.25” of snow! No more, please…

Snow Accumulation: At 12:45 pm, we have 14.25” of snow. Snow is falling at 1.25” per hour. Luckily, all the snow thus far has been...
Pond Ice: Here I was thinking the pond ice was unsafe when a snowmobile goes across it. Then, Drew told me someone was drilling an ice fishing hole. Geez…I can put my boot through the ice around the dock, but it must be thicker out near the center. I wouldn’t trust it though. But, I am very conservative when it comes to going out on the pond.
