Rain: We’ve had several days of rain, rain, and more rain. In fact, this is the second highest amount of rain that Maine has received since records started being kept in 1913.We received a good 6” of rain over the last few days. The pond is high and rivers are swollen. Seventy five roads were closed due to flooding in York County alone. Amazing. This state is drenched.

Morning Temp.: Well, luckily our morning temperature only got down to 19F, with a windchill of 10F. Brrrrrrrr…….
It’s Downright Cold: The daytime temp. barely got above 32F today, and there was ice on our front deck table all day long. My poor crocuses didn’t even open today. By tomorrow morning, the temp. is supposed to get down to 10F, with a windchill of -3F. What’s with the return of winter? It’s been over a month since we’ve seen these temps.! Not fair!!!
Weather: We are in a cooler weather pattern, and today’s temperature won’t rise above 39F. We had rain all day yesterday and into the night, and today we had snow showers all day long. Tomorrow, we hope to be back in the mid-50s. Yeah…
Weather is variable: Today, the high temperature reached 38.5F, and it is rainy and windy all day long.
Pond Ice: The ice melted over a large portion of the pond overnight. Now, the center of the pond is open for 3/4 of the length of the pond. We can see where the next portion of the ice will melt as it is a bit darker than the ice along the shoreline. I’ll try to take a photo tomorrow...
1st Paddle of the Season…aka Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures…:-) You’ll either get a mild chuckle out of this, or you’ll find yourself saying (in a thick Tim Sample accent), “She’s gone right ‘round the bend, she has…”
A friend of mine in England has this to say about my video: “Well done, Laurie. Here in the UK a shoe...
Weather Update: Our high temperature for today was 50.9F. WOW! Springtime here we come!
Cathance River is iced-out: We went over to Bowdoinham to check on the Cathance River, and there is no ice to be seen. I was told that the river has been ice-free for a good week. Wild! This is usually the time of year that I am photographing mergansers standing on ice in the river with a few open areas to swim in.
