Windy Paddle on Pond: This afternoon, the wind was gusting to 25mph, but I decided that I just had to get out on the pond after a rough day at work. Hokey Smokes, Bullwinkle, it was rough out there. The wind picked up when I reached the west side of the pond and I literally surfed all the way to the north end, having only to steer the kayak occasionally. Whoo Hoo! But, and there is always a...
Blackflies have Arrived: UGH…the blackflies are out en masse. Luckily, they don’t seem to be biting yet. They just swarm all around our heads and necks at the moment.

I did not have the camera with me as I was just scoping out the area (after putting my pathetic tomato plants out for a bit of sun). These butterflies overwinter (probably under the...
First Spring Peeper Peeping: I wandered down to the pond this afternoon to commune with the Sun for a few minutes, and heard a peeper peeping away for a few seconds. After dark, I heard it again, and went back to the pond with a sound recorder, only to have the peeper go silent the entire time I was down there. Ugh…you’ll have to take my word for it…one peeper is peeping...
