Blustery Day: Yowzer, it’s going be a cold day with the current high temp. at 28F (at 8:30 am) steadily decreasing until we hit a low of 3F tomorrow morning. The wind is going to be the biggest problem with gusts up to 50mph. Here is part of a weather advisory for our area today:

Warmth for Christmas: Drew is giving me the best Christmas present ever…he is taking the pink foam panels off the front doors for the holiday weekend. Pond Ice Depth: Drew drilled into the ice today, and it is 9” deep in the blue ice and in the spring centers, and 9.5” deep in the opaque white ice.

Morning Temperatures: At 6am, the temperature is 6F, with a windchill “Feels Like” temperature of -13F. We have a 17mph wind blowing from the WNW. I think the word “Frigid” aptly applies to the weather today. The temp. should climb to a high of 14F with a windchill of 0F by 1pm. Whoo Hoo! I think it is definitely a hot cocoa day.
Bright, Cold, and Blustery: The outdoor temp. is 25F, the wind is blowing steadily (and is gusting to 30mph), and the wind chill is around 9F. I am indoors, feeling a bit under-the-weather at the moment, and am not at all upset that I cannot be outdoors ambling around. In fact, Drew and Kasha are playing ball in the basement because it is just too cold outside for an old dog.

Snow Total Thus Far: We have received at total of 17” of snow this season.
And, Now It’s Raining: Oh, what a weather system! At 6:45 pm, the temperature has risen to 33.1F and rain has begun to fall. The roads and pathways are an icy, slushy, and slippery mess.

Snow Storm on the way: We have a doozy of a storm due to arrive in our area by tomorrow morning. Snow will fall at rates of between 1-2 inches per hour, with winds blowing at around 21 mph, possibly gusting to 45-60 mph. The storm should begin in earnest at around 9am. Snow has begun: We are in line to get between 3-6 inches of snow, and at 4pm, the snow has just begun to fall. The outdoor temp. is 37F and falling.
Ready for Winter: Drew put the studded snow tires on the car, got the shovels out, put sand in a container near the back door, and had the snow thrower serviced and ready for action. Bring on the snow!
Update: I haven’t been doing much in the way of photography lately due to lots of school work and lousy weather. Hopefully, this weekend will be better for adding a few photos to the website. Drew is planning on putting the snow tires on the car before the snow begins tomorrow afternoon.
