First Snowflakes: Wednesday evening, at 9:30 pm, Drew shined a flashlight outside and we witnessed the first five snowflakes of the season! Whooppee!

A walk in the woods: Today, I left school at 2:30 pm so we could take a leisurely family walk in the woods before the sun set. The minute I stepped out the doors of school, I had a big grin on my face because it was a balmy 62F in the sun and there was very little in the way of a breeze. Wow…what a gorgeous day for a walk. At home, I put my flaming orange hunting vest on, grabbed my...

Suet Update: This afternoon, Drew saw Kasha eating something on the ground and found that it was the suet inside the suet feeder. She had somehow reached up and pulled the feeder down (breaking the lightweight chain) to gain acess to this tasty, fatty snack. Birds: Drew hung a block of suet onto one of the hooks of the hummingbird staff on Wednesday, Oct. 23. It took a day before a hairy woodpecker found it. Gardening Update: I planted 119 daffodils, tulips, and crocuses today. I am tired. Note to self…”Laurie, do not order any more bulbs. You do not need any more for the yard.” Color Update: It was so gorgeous outside today. The sky was a brilliant blue and the leaves were almost fluorescent. Color, color everywhere. Geese: I heard a flock of geese fly to the pond today. I am...
